ALBUQUERQUE, NM--Today, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of New Mexico and representatives from New Mexico's Muslim Community condemned President Trump's revised Muslim Ban, claiming that the order remains fundamentally unconstitutional and out of step with basic American values.

“American Muslims are a vital and vibrant part of communities across our country," said Faisal Nabulsi, Islamic Center of New Mexico President. "But this revised ban continues to discriminate against Muslims and sends a message that we are not fully part of American society. In the United States of America, no person should be treated differently under the law because of how they look or how they choose to pray.”

“After courts delivered his unconstitutional Muslim ban a stinging rebuke last month, Trump has repackaged the ban with a few cosmetic changes and is trying to sell damaged goods to the American people,” said ACLU of New Mexico Executive Director Peter Simonson. “The only way to actually fix the Muslim ban is not to have a Muslim ban. This revised order is still unconstitutional and we will continue to fight it in the courts, in the legislature, and in the streets.”
