Groups Demand ICE Allow Detained Haitians Access to Legal Services

Last Friday, November 5th, the ACLU of NM and other immigrant rights advocates and organizations delivered a letter to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) demanding access to legal services for Haitian migrants detained at Torrance County Detention Facility in New Mexico.

The ACLU of New Mexico and the New Mexico Immigrant Law Center (NMILC) today filed a lawsuit on behalf of nine asylum-seekers formerly detained at the Torrance County Detention Facility who were attacked with pepper spray for engaging in a peaceful hunger strike.
