The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of New Mexico raised concerns today that Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s use of emergency powers could lead to overzealous policing and senseless incarceration.  

Almost four years after Gisell Estrada was wrongfully arrested and placed in juvenile detention for robbery and murder, the City of Albuquerque has agreed to assist in her record expungement and pay her a significant settlement as part of an agreement.

Multiple bills championed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of New Mexico, partners, and elected leaders this legislative session that advance a more just and equal New Mexico were signed into law by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham.
