When to vote, where.

  • Early voting begins at County Clerk Offices on May 2.
  • More early voting sites open around the state on May 16.
  • The last day to request a mail-in vote ballot is May 19.
  • Early voting ends on May 30.
  • Polling locations open at 7 a.m. on June 2 (Election Day).
  • Polls close at 7 p.m. on June 2.
  • All mailed ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. on June 2.

How to Register to Vote

Before May 2

You can register to vote online, by mail, or by voter registration agent. Simply visit the New Mexico Secretary of State website to register.

After May 2

You can register to vote even on the same day of the election in New Mexico in person at any County Clerk's office.

Election protection hotline sseeks to ensure that every eligible New Mexico voter who wants to vote can and that every vote is counted accurately.

New Mexican voters should feel safe and supported as they cast their votes. We are working with partners to ramp up our efforts to protect the vote both this summer and this fall.

Voters who experience any difficulties while voting are encouraged to use the following hotlines to get live advice from our attorneys. These hotlines will be connected to response teams on the ground to address problems as they occur.

The Offices Up for Election

The New Mexico Governor's race is the top office up for re-election this year, but several other statewide offices are also up for election, including

  • Lieutenant Governor
  • Attorney General
  • Secretary of State
  • Auditor
  • Commissioner of Public Lands
  • Treasurer
  • Public Education Commission (5 seats)

In addition the House of Representatives will be up for re-election this year. This includes 70 districts statewide.
