ALBUQUERQUE, NM--Today, the New Mexico SAFE coalition released responses to a survey designed to help voters understand where the four candidates in the governor’s race stand on key criminal justice issues in advance of the primary and general elections. The nine-question survey probes how each candidate would approach the criminal justice and public safety issues that have the biggest impact on New Mexican families and communities.
“Crime and public safety are at the forefront of many New Mexicans’ minds this election cycle,” said New Mexico SAFE spokesperson Adriann Barboa, Field Director with Strong Families New Mexico. “Voters are demanding smarter approaches to criminal justice that are evidence-based, less costly, and actually designed to make us safer--not just score cheap political points. We hope that our survey will help New Mexicans make an informed decision on whose leadership will best serve our communities on these issues moving forward.”
New Mexico SAFE is a nonpartisan coalition that does not endorse individual candidates in an election. This candidate survey is designed as a tool to help give voters the information they need in the upcoming elections and is not an endorsement by New Mexico SAFE or any other organization.
