RCBR Advocacy

The ACLU of New Mexico Regional Center for Border Rights regularly provides testimony on border rights issues to local, regional, national, and international policy makers, exposing problems with border enforcement policies and giving guidance on how they can be fixed. As a result of this advocacy, the RCBR's has forced agencies like the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to improve the policies governing how they treat people in the border region. The RCBR also works with lawmakers at the national level to move our nation away from a militarized model of border enforcement towards more fair and measured methods of policing our border.
