Every day in New Mexico, the ACLU of New Mexico is called on to defend the freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. There has never been a more important time to take a stand and support the ACLU of New Mexico and our effective work protecting freedom and liberty.
MISSION
To maintain and advance the cause of civil liberties within the state of New Mexico, with particular emphasis on the freedom of religion, speech, press, association, and assemblage, and the right to vote, due process of law and equal protection of law, and to take any legitimate action in the furtherance and defense of such purposes.
These objectives shall be sought wholly without political partisanship.
PROGRAMS
Litigation and legal advocacy to establish case law and policy precedents that protect or expand civil liberties.
Public education and community organizing to promote awareness of the Bill of Rights and community capacity to address unconstitutional policies and practices.
Legislative advocacy and lobbying to defeat bills that threaten civil liberties and establish state statutes that strengthen rights and protections under the Constitution.
